Want Stunning Ultrasound Pictures? Here’s How to Get the Clearest Images of Your Baby

Seeing your baby for the first time—or the tenth—is always magical. But when the images are extra clear, the experience becomes truly unforgettable. Whether it’s your first 2D scan or a high-definition 5D session, there are a few simple things you can do to help us get the best possible pictures of your little miracle.

At View A Miracle, we specialize in capturing clear, detailed ultrasound images that you'll cherish forever. Here are our top tips for getting the best results:

💧 1. Stay Hydrated in the Days Before Your Appointment

Many people think drinking a lot of water right before the scan helps—but the key is actually to stay well-hydrated for several days leading up to your visit. Proper hydration improves the quality of amniotic fluid, which acts as a natural “window” that helps us see your baby more clearly.

Tip: Aim for 8–10 glasses of water per day for at least 3 days before your ultrasound.

🕒 2. Choose the Right Time in Your Pregnancy

Certain weeks are ideal for different types of ultrasound:

  • 2D gender scans: 14–20 weeks

  • 3D/4D/5D bonding sessions: Best between 26–32 weeks when your baby has developed enough fat for visible facial features but still has space to move

  • HD Live scans: Optimal from 26–32 weeks for detailed, realistic images

Choosing the right window helps ensure baby is developed enough—and not too cramped—for clear pictures.

🍼 3. Have a Snack 30–45 Minutes Before Your Session

Eating a light snack (especially something sweet, like fruit or juice) can encourage your baby to move, which helps us get different angles and more expressive shots—like yawns, stretches, or smiles!

Note: Always follow your doctor’s dietary advice, especially if you have gestational diabetes or other concerns.

📍 4. Follow Specific Prep Instructions for Scans

Come with a full bladder, this helps to improve visibility. We’ll typically ask you to:

  • Drink 24–32 oz. of water about 1 hour before your appointment

  • Avoid emptying your bladder until after the scan

We’ll guide you on prep based on the scan you book.

😌 5. Relax and Let Baby Do Their Thing

Sometimes baby just isn’t in the perfect position right away. That’s okay! We may ask you to:

  • Shift positions

  • Take a short walk

  • Gently nudge your belly

We’ll do everything we can to get that perfect shot.

👩‍⚕️ 6. Choose a Trusted Studio with Registered Professionals

At View A Miracle, all ultrasounds are performed by registered medical sonographers with years of experience. We use the latest ultrasound technology to ensure safe, high-quality images—and we take the time to explain what you're seeing on the screen.

💖 Bonus Tip: Book the Right Package

Some packages allow more time for repositioning, capturing facial features, and bonding. We also offer:

  • Unlimited images

  • USB recording of the session

  • Heartbeat stuffed animals to add on

  • Repeat visit if the baby is not in a good position
